Headway Education
Sue Hannam Education Team LeaderSue has worked for Headway since 1990 initially as a Basic Education tutor one morning a week progressing to various management and hands-on roles. She currently organises a programme of courses that have been developed at Leicester College for Headway members including Independent Cookery, Digital Photography, I.T., Woodwork, Art & Craft, Press Gang (Newsletter production), Basic Skills and a very successful Lunch Club. In addition to the college courses any in-house members who feel they would benefit from re-learning or building on existing skills have the opportunity to work with Sue on a 1:1 basis. ‘I have always enjoyed working with Headway members. To see confidence growing and people moving into the next phase of their lives is very rewarding.’ |
Colin Power has worked for many years as a Youth Worker both in inner city and rural youth centres. He has also worked as a lecturer both at Loughborough and Leicester Colleges with people with learning difficulties and emotional, social and behavioural issues. Colin's role at Headway is to deliver the Future Pathways pilot project for Leicester College. This is a person centred learning programme which he sees as a way of enabling people to reach their full potential by tailoring a learning programme that really suits individual needs. Colin feels his greatest achievement has to be successfully assembling an IKEA wardrobe without assistance!! |
