New Chairman for Headway
A
former Leicester College director is the new chairman of a local charity dedicated
to helping people with brain injuries.
Carol Birch has most recently been vice chair of Headway and
now succeeds Michael Switzer as chairman. She became a trustee
of the charity in 2004 and vice chair a year later.
Michael Switzer, previously chairman of British Gas East Midlands
and vice chairman of Fosse Health Trust, has stepped down after
more than seven years. He will remain a trustee. “I believe
Headway is now established throughout the city and county as
a respected and highly professional organisation setting very
high standards,” said Mr Switzer. “The opening last
year of our new extended facilities at Headway House has made
a massive difference to what we can provide.”
Mrs Birch sees the immediate future as “ a period of consolidation”
for Headway. “We have tremendous and very committed staff
providing a high quality service and believe our funders recognise
this,” she said.
