A £130,000
extension at Headway Leicester, the charity that helps people
with brain injuries, has been completed on time and within budget
and will be officially opened next month.
Staff and members moved back to the premises next to Leicester
General Hospital after several months in temporary accommodation
at Mayflower Methodist Church.
“We are very grateful to Mayflower for allowing us to use
their church to run our activities,” said Headway Services
Director Mary Goulty. “And now we’re delighted by
the transformation of the ground floor of our own building”.
Diet and fitness guru Rosemary Conley will open the new wing on
September 13. It houses art and craft facilities, computers and
a fully fitted woodwork area.
As a thank you to Mayflower, Headway presented representatives
with a restored and framed picture of their church.
Leicester Headway has a staff of 18 experts in different aspects
of rehabilitation, with groups around Leicestershire and Rutland,
a budget of around £¼ million and 132 users of the
service.
