Other ways in which Headway can support you
Supporting People – Clients who are part of the supporting people project are seen regularly in order to assist them in maintaining their tenancy, live as independent a life as possible and have equal access to community facilities and resources.
Outreach workers assist with a variety of tasks from form-filling to attending a local leisure centre. Clients are also given emotional support and time for making choices and decisions. Clients have regular reviews and are encouraged to set goals and work out how to achieve them – by doing this they can monitor their achievements and build on their successes.
-
Outings/Groups – Particularly during the summer months, group outings are organised so that clients can socialise and explore their community and have respite from their daily lives.
This provides structure to the week when other regular activities have finished for the summer and is something enjoyable to look forward to. Clients often introduce their families to these new experiences and enjoy sharing their discoveries.
Individual Budgets/Self-directed Care – The Personalisation Agenda will give individuals’ greater choice and control about the services they want from local providers. Headway will soon have a “menu” of services from which individuals can choose and purchase using their individual budget. Please contact us for more details.
