The Big Give Christmas Challenge 2021
Help us raise £4K in just 7 days!
Men make up 68% of the brain injury survivors we currently support, and many have lost access to rehabilitation services as a result of lockdown measures.
Men typically find it more difficult to build social connections than women.
SheadWay aims to change this.
The first two years following a brain injury are very important in terms of a patient’s long-term prognosis. Our dedicated workshop enables us to support our members creatively in a environment they feel comfortable.
Donate during The Big Give Christmas Challenge to see your donation DOUBLED
During the Big Give Christmas Challenge week (midday Tuesday 30th November – midday Tuesday 7th December) if you donate to Headway Leicester via this link during the challenge your donation will be DOUBLED!
We are aiming to raise £4,000 to support our SheadWay project.
SheadWay is a place for the male members we support to learn and develop practical skills, form new friendships, and become more independent whilst recovering from their brain injury.
Our purpose-built woodwork workshop allows members to gain a renewed sense of purpose whilst completing a project.
We really need your support to reach our target, so that we can enable even more people living with a brain injury to have access to specialist support and services which are helping to improve their confidence, wellbeing and give them greater independence.
SheadWay offers the opportunity for survivors to access a wide range of practical and emotional support.
Accessing our support is crucial in helping survivors to regain a degree of independence. SheadWay enables survivors to access activities which they may have enjoyed pre injury.
By donating to our campaign you will be helping reduce feelings of loneliness. Social isolation is extremely common after sustaining a brain injury, as it robs individuals of physical, communicative, cognitive, emotional, and behavioural skills.
From birdhouses to horse feeders, intricate model building to tending the garden, together members gain a renewed sense of purpose.
This dedicated community helps builds peer relationships with other survivors who are going through exactly the same challenges.
How can I support your campaign?
To hit our £4,000 target we really do need your support.
There are lots of ways you can get involved with supporting our campaign.
The simplest way is by making a donation, you can do this when the challenge begins at midday on Tuesday 30th November – we’ll post the link you’ll need to donate here and share it on our social media channels too!
Perhaps you could support the campaign by hosting your own fundraiser, collecting the proceeds and then donating them during the campaign to make sure they are DOUBLED!
