Mark’s Story

man doing wood work
My name is Mark. I live in the Sleaford area of Lincoln. Eight years last October I was hit by a car in Peterborough whilst walking to work.

I sustained multiple injuries, the most detrimental injury of all was to my brain, which has left me with a life-changing condition resulting in severe memory loss etc and in a position where I require 24-hour support. I was introduced to Headway Leicester by my care manager. Kirsty and I have continued to attend once a week ever since, as this is the only centre near me with the facilities to help me improve. I like going to Headway Leicester because I meet a lot of people there who have similar injuries as myself. Everyone there including the staff have helped me to develop and progress. I have regained some of my confidence and improved my communication skills.

At Headway, I feel welcome and part of something, I particularly enjoy the woodwork shop where I have made all kinds of things. There is also the media room where there are a lot of computers which I can access whenever I want. Unfortunately, there is nothing like Headway Leicester in the Lincoln area but having said that I do enjoy the journey.
